What is Tandem Cycle?
Tandem cycle is a treatment method in which donor egg or donor sperm is added to the reproductive cells of the mother and the embryos formed from these cells are followed separately and the selection is made according to the course of the process. It is a highly preferred method especially for those who have not yet made a full decision on donation or want to give their own cells a last chance and want to take advantage of time and cost in the meantime.
With this method, the mother candidate maintains her chance of getting pregnant and if her own cells do not develop well, her treatment is not canceled.
If egg supplementation is to be done, the mother candidate and the egg donor start the treatment simultaneously. The ovaries of both are stimulated and their eggs are collected under anesthesia. The sperm sample taken from the father candidate and the eggs of the mother candidate and the donor are combined in the laboratory with the microinjection method and turned into embryos.
Embryo developments are monitored and the embryos deemed suitable are transferred on the 3rd or 5th day. If the embryos of the prospective mother are good enough to have a chance of pregnancy, priority is given to her own embryos and the embryos made with donor eggs are frozen to be re-evaluated according to the pregnancy result. If the embryos of the prospective mother do not develop, a transfer is made from embryos made with donor eggs. Sometimes the prospective mother may want to transfer both embryos made from herself and her donor. This request of the prospective mother who is psychologically ready for this will not be rejected.
If sperm supplementation is to be performed, the prospective mother’s ovaries are stimulated and her eggs are collected under anesthesia. This time, the sperm sample taken from the prospective father and the sperm cells selected from the sperm bank are thawed and the prospective mother’s eggs are combined in the laboratory with the microinjection method and turned into embryos.
Embryo developments are closely monitored and a 3rd or 5th day transfer is planned depending on the situation. If a chance of pregnancy is seen here, the preference will be for embryos made with her own cells. The embryos made with bank sperm are frozen to be re-evaluated according to the pregnancy result.
If egg donation treatment is to be applied, the egg donation procedure is applied. The selection of the appropriate donor is important here.
If sperm donation treatment is to be applied, the sperm donation procedure is applied. Here, you will benefit from our sperm bank, which we supply from the world’s best sperm banks (Cryos/Europan sperm bank) and which is located within our center, and our team will help you with the selection.
