Rhinoplasty is the most commonly performed procedure world wide. Patients opt for rhinoplasty for aesthetical purposes, restoring nasal functions, correcting the structure, treatment after a trauma, and respiratory purposes.

Prior to the surgery, your surgeon will analyse your facial symmetry. This allows your surgeon to give recommendations on what kind of procedure you need to undertake for your nose to appear more harmoniously with other features on your face. This is an important time to describe your desired look to avoid undesirable consequences.
Before the operation
It is important to refrain from smoking 2 weeks prior to your schedules surgery, and 1-month after your procedure.
Painkillers and other derivatives should be stopped 2 weeks prior to your scheduled procedure.
If you are suffering from the flu or have a fever, rhinoplasty will be stalled for 2 weeks after receiving treatment.
Digital photography and analysis of the nose will be performed before your operation. A specialised computer program is used to digitally reshape your nose until a desired shape is achieved. After agreeing to the desired shape, an operation plan is made.
During the Surgery
The duration of the surgery depends on the degree of difficulty. On average, the surgery takes approximately 2-3 hours to conduct.
During the procedure, a 1mm silicone internal plate may be placed inside the nose. A cast will also be placed on the nose externally. The silicone plate and cast will be removed approximately 1 week after the procedure.
Post-operative care
Expect to have bruising and swelling around the surgical site. The bruising and swelling varies between patients. This is a normal response to surgical trauma. Ice compressions will used to reduce the appearance of bruising and swelling.
You will need approximately 7-10 days of recovery before resuming work.
Visible swelling will decrease in the first month. It will take approximately 1-year to see the final results of the rhinoplasty.
